Light Pasta with Tomato Basil Sauce

2 teaspoons olive oil
1/2 cup onion, minced
1 large clove garlic, minced
2 small zucchini, thinly sliced into 1/2-inch rounds
10 Roma tomatoes, peeled, seeded, and chopped
1/4 cup fresh basil, coarsely chopped
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
8 ounces penne pasta, cooked al dente
Grated Parmesan cheese

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion and garlic. Saute until onion is translucent, about 2 minutes. Stir in zucchini, chicken broth, and tomatoes. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer 5 minutes. Stir in basil, salt, and pepper. Serve over pasta and sprinkle with Parmesan.
