Chocolate Buttercream Frosting
This velvety soft chocolate frosting is finger-licking good make sure you have enough left for your cakes or cupcakes.
Serves: 2 cups
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 2 minutes


2 (4 oz. Total) bars unsweetened chocolate baking bars
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter or margarine
3 1/2 cups (1-lb.) Powdered sugar
1/2 cup milk, (use up to 2/3 cup)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt

MICROWAVE baking bars and butter in small, microwave-safe mixer bowl on HIGH (100%) power for 45 seconds; stir. Microwave at additional 10 to 20 second intervals, stirring until smooth; cool to room temperature.

BEAT sugar, milk, vanilla extract and salt into chocolate mixture just until of spreading consistency.


MELT baking bars and butter in small, heavy saucepan over, lowest possible heat.

When baking bars begin to melt, remove fro heat; stir. Return to heat for a few seconds at a time, stirring until smooth. Transfer to small mixer bowl; cool to room temperature. Proceed as above.
