cookies and berries
French lace Cookie bowl filled with fresh whipped cream and mixed berries drizzled with chocolate.
Serves: 6
Prep Time: 30 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes


1 cup flour
1 cup finely chopped nuts
1/2 cup corn syrup
1/2 cup shortening
2/3 cup brown sugar
1 q t. heavy cream
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 Cups fresh berries
1/2 cup melted chocolate

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Blend flour and nuts. Bring corn syrup, shortening and sugar to a boil in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; gradually stir in flour and nuts. Drop batter by 2 tablespoons each about 6 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake only 2 to 3 cookies at a time. Bake about 8 to 9 minutes, remove from oven and allow to stand 3 minutes to harden slightly before removing from pan. Remove from pan and put over the bottom of a bowl to form a bowl shape. While bowls cool make whipped cream. Whip (by hand or by mixer)the cream and vanilla and 2 tsp. of sugar until stiff peaks form. Place a couple of spoonfuls onto the cooled bowl, top with fresh berries and drizzle with melted chocolate.
