Apple Cake
A great tasting cake for a special treat.
Serves: 12
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 20-30 minutes


1/2 cup Smucker’s® Baking Healthy
2 cups granulated sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 cups apples, peeled and chopped
1 teaspoon baking soda
3 cups all-purpose flour
4 egg whites
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup skim milk
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 teaspoons fat-free margarine

In a large bowl, mix the Smucker’s® Baking Healthy and the sugar. Beat until fluffy. Add the egg whites and vanilla. Beat until well blended. Mix in the baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add the flour and stir just until blended. Stir in the apples. Pour into a prepared 9 x 13-inch pan and bake at 350° for 20-30 minutes until the top springs back when touched lightly with your finger.

In a saucepan, melt the fat-free margarine and sugar. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat and whisk in vanilla extract and milk. Serve warm sauce over cake.
