PREHEAT the oven to 325° F. Grease a large baking sheet.
SHAPE the dough into an 8-inch-tree shape. To do so, draw a template on a piece of paper and cut around it, or cut the tree freehand and use your fingers and a knife to even out the shape. Transfer the "tree" to the baking sheet.
BAKE for 16 to 18 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes and then carefully loosen the cookie completely with a spatula. Let the cookie cool completely on the baking sheet and then decorate as desired.
