Ginger Crunch

125 g (4 ozs.) butter
125 g (4 ozs.) sugar
200 g (7 oxs.) flour
1 teaspoon ground ginger, (powder)
1 teaspoon baking powder
4 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup icing sugar
1 tablespoon golden syrup
2 tablespoons ground ginger, (powder)

Cream butter and sugar and add the sifted dry ingerdients. The mixture will seem quite dry and lumpy. That is the way it should be. Mix then put into a shallow, greased baking pan. Compact using your hands. Put into an oven pre heated to 190 degrees celcius (375 degress fahrenheit) for 20-25 minutes.
Put all the icing ingregients into a saucpan and melt together. Pour over the base while the icing is still hot and cut into small squares before it cools.
